26 April - Death anniversary music director Shankar

Music director Shankar (of Shankar-Jaikishan) was born on 25^th October, 1922 in Gadarwara (MP, India) as Shankar Singh Raghuvanshi. Shankar was an assistant of music composer duo Husnlal-Bhagatram. Shankar met his future working partner Jaikishan outside of the office of Mr Chandravadan Bhatt. After some time they became very close friends and started work together. Raj Kapoor gave them break as music director in his film Barsat. This film was a superhit in all aspects. Music of this film was outstanding. After this film they never looked back and work together more than two decades in Hindi Film Industry. Shankar died on 26^th April, 1987.

Actress Moushmi Chatterjee was born on 26^th April,1951 in Calcutta (Now Kolkata, WB). She started her film career from Beganli film Balika Badhu. Her debut as heroine in the Hindi film Anuraag. It is said in Bollywood married woman can’t accepted as a Heroine, but Moushmi Chatterjee broke this myth, after her marriage, she has appeared in Bollywood as a heroiene.  She had tooth sticking out more than others, which gave her face a unique identity and beauty. Actor, Writer, Director Karan Razdan was born on 25^th April, 1961. He is best known for his television serial Rajni. He has directed films with controversial subject such as Girlfriend, Hawas, Souten : The Other Woman, Rakhail – The Mistress. He has appeared in films such as Zara Si Zindagi, Jeevan Dhara, Disco Dancer, Tum Laut Aao, Qasam Paida Karne Wale Ke and television serial Rajni.

25 April - Death anniversary Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan

Bade Ghulam Ali Khan was born on 02^nd April, 1902 in Kasur, a village in Punjab. Bade Ghulam Ali Khan belonged to a family of hereditary musicians.  His father Ali Baksh was a court musician in Kashmir.  Ghulam Ali was initiated into vocal music as well as the Saarangi at a very early age, mainly by his uncle Kale Khan. He initially earned his living by playing Saarangi before becoming a full-fledged singer. Countrywide publicity came to him soon after his debut concert in Kolkata and by the mid-40s he was a much-reputed singer. Musicologists say, Bade Ghulma Ali Khan was the Tansen of the 20th century. He died on 25^th April, 1968.

24April - Remembering Actor Mac Mohan on his birthday

Actor Mac Mohan was born on 24^th April, 1938 in Karachi (British India) now Pakistan as Mohan Makijany. He is well known for his beard and role in film Sholay as Sambha. He started his film career as an assistant director. His debut film was Haqeeqat. His memorable films are Zanjeer, Don, Shaan, Satte Pe Satta. He had appeared in number of films alongwith Hindi, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Haryanvi, Sindhi, Gujrati and Marathi. His last released film was Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. He died on 10^th May, 2010.

23April - Birthday actor Manoj Bajpai

Versatile actor Manoj Bajpai was born on 23^rd April, 1969 in a small village Belwa, Bihar. He is best known for his film Satya and Shool. He started his career with a television serial Swabhimaan. He appeared in small roles in two films Drohkaal and Bandit Queen. His work was also noticed and appreciated in films such as Zubeinda, Pinjar, Veer Zaara and Rajneeti. Legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray was born on 2^nd May, 1921 in Calcutta. He is best known for his first film Pather Panchali. He was writer, editor, grapic designer, film critic, producer and director. In other words he was complete film maker. His films are Jalasghar, Devi, Teen Kanya, Charulata, Nayak, Asani Sanket, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Ghare Baire, Ganashatru and Agantuk was his last film. He died on 23^rd April, 1992.

One of India's most respected film maker, Baldev Raj Chopra was born on 22^nd April, 1914 in Ludhiana (Punjab, India). He was legendary director and producer of Hindi cinema. He is best known for his films such as Waqt, Dhool Ka Phool, Ittefaq, Baghban, Insaf Ka Tarazu, Naya Daur, Sadhana, Kanoon, Gumrah, Humraaz Nikah and television epic serial Mahabharata. His directorial debut film was Afsana. He was one of them, who made films on social issues and his film stories were based on women character. He died on 5^th November, 2008.
